Communication Breakdown

This is an interesting article on the various forms of verbal and nonverbal communication. It’s eye-opening how much we get from the speakers tone and body language. All of which comes as no surprise if you’ve ever had an e-mail misinterpreted which resulted in several more e-mails to get things straightened out. E-mail is missing both the paraverbal and nonverbal communication cues. That means you must choose you words carefully and keep sarcasm to a minimum (fat chance of that!). I’m beginning to like texting better. Fewer words mean less chance to piss someone off.

The e-mail I sent was a tad
To sarcastic and came across bad.
With nonverbal missing
It sounded dismissing
And instead of a smile they got mad.
