It turns out that crowd estimating is a very touchy subject in Washington D.C. Everyone who stages a rally wants to brag about the huge size of their crowd to bolster the validity of their message. The National Parks Service quit doing the estimates because of the controversy that followed when they found the famous ‘Million Man March’ to be something less than a million. Crowd estimate expert Stephen Doig of Arizona State University was hailed by conservatives for downsizing the crowd at Obama’s inauguration but is now being bashed by those same people for downsizing Glenn Beck’s crowd. Talk about a no-win job.
The supporters are firmly avowed
While detractors are equally loud.
Don’t be dissing my man
With a cursory scan
Then lowball the size of his crowd.
