Here’s group who want to make ‘pole’ dancing an Olympic sport. I’m not sure exactly where the skill comes into play but who am I to judge. That, in fact, is a concern of current pole dancers. They fear you might attract gymnasts, circus performers or Chinese acrobats and lose the sensual aspect of the dance. I don’t think this will get very far. We usually like to keep our sex and sports separated…except for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
There’s a group who have a new goal
For their dancing, an Olympic role.
But fathers aren’t sold
As they’ve always been told
To be keeping their girls ‘off the pole’.

I’m not sure what to make of the Bloom Box as seen on 60 Minutes. It looks like a great idea although I’m not expert enough to tell otherwise. The experts quoted above were unanimously unimpressed. The technology’s not new and significant cost barriers still exist which is why it will take 5-10 years before we ever see one for the home. So why all the hype now? Either I’m missing something or maybe they’re just looking for more money.
The buzz for their fuel cell is booming
With hope for clean energy looming.
But five to ten years
Before it appears?
This box is a long way from blooming.

This homeowner decided to bulldoze his house rather than lose it to the bank in foreclosure. He wants to ’send a message’ to the bank but he’s missing the point. The bank doesn’t want the house, they want the money the house will bring. Now he’ll have the bank AND the insurance company after him. If he can avoid paying them via bankruptcy then maybe this will work in his favor but I have my doubts. Now he’s going to have to bulldoze the legal system. Good luck with that!
While he might think the banker’s a louse
And his complaints a legitimate grouse,
To bulldoze is dramatic
But anti-climatic.
It’s money they want, not the house.

The Shuttle Endeavour comes in for a night landing that is too cool for words. While the program has been expensive, it has reshaped space travel. I understand the need to move forward but the replacement program was tied into future moon visits so now we’re ready to retire the Shuttles with no replacement in site. Typical government bureaucracy. It’s amazing sometimes how anything gets done at all.
The Shuttles are way past their youth
And now getting long in the tooth.
As budget cuts mauled
Replacements got stalled.
‘Ghostly’ is too close to the truth.

The school administrators in Philadelphia that used webcams in their laptops to ‘prevent theft’ need to have their collective heads examined. Am I to believe that nobody thought remotely activating a camera in the students home was a breach of privacy? This is a sad statement on the quality of our educators. The FBI and the courts are now going to be passing out the grades and the school district looks to earn a big, fat ‘F’.
Their statement portrayed them as trying
To safeguard their laptops, not spying.
But accusing a student
Was not very prudent,
As it turns out the school had been lying.

I didn’t get a chance last week to talk about these yahoos (not the search engine!). With the discussions of health care costs at the forefront of everyone’s mind, Anthem Bluecross (owned by Wellpoint) decides to raise rates by 40%. If they did it on purpose, it’s astounding the balls they have. It’s like a big FU to the whole country. I’m generally not a fan of big government but I’m less a fan of big business. Who else can protect the little guy from the avarice of these large corporations?
At Wellpoint it’s all about growth
With a leader who must be an oaf.
Health Care’s at the fore
And he plays the whore.
Is he greedy or clueless or both?

These two Senators introduced a bill calling for regime change in Iran. The worst part is, they are openly influenced e.g. take money from the American Israel Public Affair Committee. These folks brag about their unlimited influence in both houses of Congress. So let me get this straight, we should send in our boys to die so these two can keep their Israeli money spigot flowing. I think the good folks in Texas and Kansas need to take a long hard look at these two jokers.
The Senate we fill by election
A process that’s far from perfection.
Take Cornyn and Brownback
Who want to attack
To protect their Israeli connection.

Here’s some news you can use. According to researchers, when it comes to condoms, one size does not fit all. Didn’t we already know that? Apparently men are taking them off because they’re uncomfortable due to poor fit vs. they just don’t want to wear them in the first place. So you need to make sure you get the right size to fit your particular ..er…shape. This could cause sales of the extra large size to decrease dramatically.
An ill-fitting condom in tatters
Will create undesirable splatters.
I’m sure you’ll agree
Good fit is the key,
So here is where size really matters.

Canada finally wins gold at their home Olympics. They kept making a big deal at this even though Canada has won many Olympic golds, just not at the Olympics they’ve hosted. Okay…it’s done. Good excuse for a big party. Now the other atheletes can relax a bit and we may even see more Canadian gold as the pressure comes off. Alexandre Bilodeau is the new hero and it couldn’t have happen to a nicer guy. Congratulations Alexandre!
Up amidst the fog and the cold
An Olympian’s story is told.
Thru moguls and air
And a brother to share,
Canada finally gets gold!

Serves him right! Marrying a women he’s never seen because of those ridiculous head-to-toe garments. I wonder how many other Muslim men are surprised on their wedding night. She wore a niqab. The only opening was slits for her eyes. Who knows what lurks under there. Warts, weight, a tail…a penis! Transvestites could have a field day over there.
By all looks she was kind and appeared
A Muslim young women who neared,
Her wedding night bed
‘Til the veil on her head,
Was removed and uncovered her beard.

Out on the town............Home reading the Koran

I stumbled across this picture and had to write a limerick about it. I think Sarah Silverman is hilarious! She’s got a no-holds-barred, weird sense of humor that I can relate too.
Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis. ~Jack Handey, “Deep Thoughts,” Saturday Night Live
Sarah Silverman likes to disarm
With hers looks and her smile and her charm.
But she’s wicked with wit
Case in point that tidbit,
Of cream cheese tucked under her arm.

Every time Sarah Palin makes the news it’s for something stupid or irrelevant. The big to-do over the word retards is case in point (please check out this video with Stephen Colbert). Enough with the politically correct (whatever that means). Mentally disabled, retarded, tomato, tomaaato. Get over it. Most of the people referred to as retarded are not even mentally disabled…e.g. Sarah Palin.
It’s funny how some have discarded
Common sense for some words they regarded
As offensive but who,
Don’t get the clue
That it’s them that we’re calling retarded.

It’s hard to believe the CIT Group appointed John Thain as their CEO. Then again, they’re emerging from bankruptcy after screwing the last set of investors so the Board of Directors has proven their inability to direct. This is big problem with boards. They assume someone who has held a CEO post before must have the necessary skills to do it again regardless the prior outcomes. I think it’s more a cover-your-ass mentality. Thain’s only contribution at Merrill Lynch was a million dollar office redecoration as the company spiraled into near bankruptcy. Just the skill his new company needs.
We can’t get the change at the top
‘Cause the board is all from the same crop.
They fear the unknown
So stick with their own.
It’s more like a cozy wife swap.

What a great Super Bowl game! It went down to the wire and was anybody’s game until that last interception and score by the Saints. It’s not like Payton Manning to make that kind of mistake (more like Brett Farve) but it just goes to show…anything can happen. Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints.

The Colts had their chances to score
But New Orleans came through with one more.
When the final gun sounded
The world was astounded,
The Saints aren’t the ain’ts anymore.

I think Obama’s tough stance on China is not only appropriate but needed. They respect only strength. This may be a more common occurrence over the next decade as our interests continue to collide. Meeting the Dalai Lama sends a message that we will do whatever we damn please, thank you very much! The fact that they hold a lot of our debt means nothing. The growth of their economy is still dependent on exports. Before you embark on revenge, dig two graves – Confucius
China thinks ’cause they’re holding our debt
They can dictate the rules for Tibet.
Their claims of internal
Are seen as infernal,
When the Dalai Lama cannot be met.
