Dildos Ban Dildos

Strange but true. The Supreme Court of Alabama (soon to be an oxymoron) has upheld a ban on the sale of “any device designed… primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs”. They’re going after the vibrators and dildos! The justification was to help enforce the “public morality”. Is Alabama still in the United States? Nothing brings out the whack jobs (no pun intended) like sex.

Click on the link to read the article and you’ll also learn of a fellow named Sylvester Graham who, in the 1850’s, invented Graham Crackers to help cure sexual urges. He was ridiculed in Boston for his zealotry. He should have moved to Alabama.

Alabama’s women, it seems,
Are left without any means
To procure the big ‘O’.
So where do they go?
All they have left is ‘wet dreams’.

Afghan Debate

It’s a very interesting debate going on now about our role in Afghanistan. Obama’s trying to focus on specific goals and the military chiefs are advocating more troops. Are these two ideas mutually exclusive or ???  The only problem I have with using more troops is the end game. How long do we have to stay? Seems to me the minute we pull out, some else moves in to fill the void. Tough problem. At the very least I’m comforted that no one is using the term ‘evil doers’.

Genghis Khan, the Russians and the Brits,
All invaded and then called it quits.
A small piece of turf
On the ass of the Earth.
Afghanistan keeps giving us fits.

WHO Talks Flu

Flu season has arrived with the H1N1 swine flu getting top billing. I think that WHO (World Health Organization) has a communication problem with the word ‘pandemic’. It refers to how widespread the flu is vs. how virulent it is. We have widespread flu every year. I want to know if this new strain is really serious or similar to what we see every winter. Maybe they should talk to Homeland Security and adopt the even more useless color-coded terror warning system.

WHO is talking real pandemic.
When? is something more polemic.
What?  the flu,
Where?  no clue.
And Why is simply academic.

Kudos for Brazil

Filed under: Events, Sports — @ 3:00 am

It’s was tough to watch Chicago lose their bid for the Olympics, but at the same time, you have to feel joy for Brazil.  They will be the host country for the first time and for the first time on their continent.  It’s another mark of ascendancy into the upper echelon of countries that dominate the world today. It all sounds good, but it won’t be easy.  Crime and poverty are still rampant and it will take all of their skill and resources to pull this off.  I wish them the best of Luck!

Brazil has been anointed the host
Of the Olympics, now they can boast
A continental first
That will slake a thirst,
As they raise up their glasses to toast.

A Letter for Letterman

David Letterman has admitted to some sexual liaisons in response to a bungled extortion attempt. I’m no expert, but isn’t the first rule of blackmail that you remain anonymous and use the infamous ‘drop’ to collect the cash? Or is that kidnapping only?  Seems to me you take a big risk that your target will do anything to prevent disclosure.  Otherwise, they call the police and it’s a quick game over.

Then we have the moralists who insist on passing judgment when it’s none of their business. Last time I checked, it’s perfectly legal for two consenting adults to have sex. The real issue is with Dave and his wife and then, it only becomes illegal if she poisons his coffee. This is why I write limericks about real life…you can’t make this stuff up!

A letter for Letterman arrives,
With an extortion request inside.
Threatening to make news
By pandering to prudes,
Stupidity and morals collide.

So Cui Bono – Who Benefits?

Filed under: Events, Politics — @ 3:00 am

The title of this post is an old Roman quote that’s very apropos to the case of Roman Polanski. Who indeed? I don’t agree with or condone his actions but the time has passed for retribution or punishment. Nobody will benefit. I think the Swiss are just sucking up to the United States to prevent further inroads into their banking system secrecy.  It’s all to late, the shine is off the Swiss. They’re now just another small European country with nothing special to offer and no leverage in world affairs.

The case of Roman Polanski
Is something I cannot agree.
So cui bono?
Nobody I know.
It’s a case of legal debris.

Hertz Sues ‘Bad News’

The CEO of Hertz is a real piece of work. He’s suing Audit Integrity Inc. for saying negative things about the company that have already been disclosed in reports to the SEC. This guys only concerned about the price of his options. If there is any material information about the company that is negative, he is the last person you’ll hear it from. I guess stockholders aren’t allow to read any opinions that haven’t been ‘blessed’ by the company spinmeisters.

CEO’s don’t worry a lot,
When it starts to look bad for their stock.
If the boat starts to tip
And they have to jump ship,
They land in a luxury yacht.
